Volunteers

Volunteers are vital!

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our non-profit program. Volunteers are needed to play with children, sing songs, help with crafts and snack time, and to make HARC into a joyous experience for the children.

Volunteers are encouraged!

HARC volunteers share friendships. Ours is not just a place where volunteers come and go. Our volunteers are part of a team of friends and family that work together in a fun environment.

Volunteers are loved!

Yes, you are loved by the staff, which you work with, by our children and by the families.

All volunteers are given comprehensive training and must complete a criminal background check.

HARC volunteers benefit from knowing that they are part of a team helping families of children with autism and mental retardation. But the benefits go further than that. Whether you need volunteer hours for your educational experience, hoping to learn more about children with special needs, or just looking for a fulfilling way to spend some free time, the Houston Area Respite Center can help.

If you would like to volunteer your time with the Houston Area Respite Center, contact our director Karen Jaggers at harc_karen_jaggers@yahoo.com or 713.271.6001.
